About Us
Welcome to the official homepage for Read3Zero, the new foundation and literacy movement created by LongTale Publishing.
Read3Zero is the new movement to support literacy across the United States, founded by CEO/author/publisher Melissa M. Williams (Iggy the Iguana ) of LongTale Publishing and her Online Marketing Manager, Bobby Ozuna of Ozuna Publications.
Read3Zero is an outreach program founded in 2009 by LongTale Publishing in efforts to support the three key aspects of its organization: Literacy, Creativity and Learning for children. Read3Zero’s main mission is to encourage adults and children to take a stand and read together for thirty minutes a day. The campaign’s slogan–“Conquering illiteracy together … 30 minutes at a time”–represents the importance of adults making time for their children and supporting the mission to fight against childhood illiteracy in our world.
The first implementation of READ3Zero is to get community involement by wearing the READ3Zero t-shirts–an outward expression of committment within our homes. Secondly, READ3Zero will host a short-story contest for all kids in the US, between grades 3~8. We are presently taking submissions and the rules and guidelines are posted on the “I Write” page.
For more information, see our About page.

READ3Zero Mission Statement
Read3Zero is an outreach program founded in 2009 by LongTale Publishing in efforts to support the three key aspects of its organization: Literacy, Creativity and Learning for children. Read3Zero’s main mission is to encourage adults and children to take a stand and read together for thirty minutes a day. The campaign’s slogan–“Conquering illiteracy together…30 minutes at a time”–represents the importance of adults making time for their children and supporting the mission to fight against childhood illiteracy in our world, starting within our own communities!
Our goal at LongTale Publishing starts with community involvement. We encourage businesses to take a stand within their respective community by becoming sponsors in order to get literature into the hands of groups that need them. Businesses who purchase books through the Read3Zero Foundation will be supplying literature to title one schools, children’s hospitals, day cares, and low funded organizations and programs for kids. For children who do not get the attention or required/essential learning materials at home, this support can be crucial in the overall success of our children. Also, the ability for a child to gain access to books, meet an author or even witness the overall support of the community to help fight illiteracy can be a life-changing event for our youth.
Read3Zero will not only work to encourage children to read, but we will inspire children to use their creativity and write their own story, by having options to create pathways for a successful future. Read3Zero will host many opportunities for children by reaching out to community and business leaders/owners and by getting involved in projects that support reading, creativity and learning. Our dream at LongTale Publishing is to make learning and reading fun again.
Together we can conquer illiteracy…30 minutes at a time.
